In the wastelands of Amadal, kir is not drunk for pleasure. It is drunk to make it to the next oasis.

Caravans brewed it long and strong in iron kettles. The drink was powerful, dry and astringent, but it let travelers keep moving despite the heat, fatigue and sleeplessness. It was said that after drinking it, you could march for another half-day even when your body had long since wanted to give up.

The most austere of the four. The aroma features cocoa and roasted beans; the taste brings dark chocolate, nuts and a lightly smoky note. Acidity is very low, the brew is heavy and full-bodied, with a distinctly dry finish.
This is the kir of the road—it does not make the journey pleasant, but helps you survive it.
